Gamelan at the Beach, New Brighton Beach
State Park, Capitola
Saturday July 24, 2009, 7:30-8:30pm
Gamelan Anak Swarasanti returns to the beach for another
informal free performance and discussion of Balinese gamelan
music at New Brighton Beach State Park in Capitola, just
south of Santa Cruz. The performance will be at the Campfire
Center near the camping area. This year's performance will
include two topeng dances (Balinese masked dances)
by Ron Ortman - a special and unusual treat!
Admission is free, except for the $10 per car State Beach
parking fee, so fill up the carpool with your friends! Also
the coastal microclimate at New Brighton means that the
evenings, while usually gloriously warm, can also turn cool,
so bring layered clothing to be prepared for whatever the
ocean sends us!
