Lovina - Bali Sunset

Since Dan had come down with a high fever, we decided not to stay at a simple homestay after all, but rather at a more comfortable hotel with air-conditioning, to let him get some good rest. Dewa knew of a nice place in Lovina - the Aditya Bungalows - a beach resort on the North Coast.

It was quite a step up in luxury from where we'd been staying in Ubud, but it didn't have such an intimate Balinese feel to it. Still - it was a good place to let Dan get some sleep, and it was quite nice to let ourselves be pampered for one night.

We let Dan sleep in his room while we went off for a long walk along the seemingly endless beach. Fishing prahus were pulled up along the beach. Tourists sunned themselves - although it really wasn't that crowded.

I got into a long conversation with a Dutch couple visiting their son who was working in one of the other islands of Indonesia, while Astrid and Julia searched for exotic sea-shells on the sea-shore.

As the sun sank lower, the skies became quite dramatic and we were able to get some lovely photos...

It looked like we were in store for a beautiful sunset.

Before dinner, Julia decided to take advantage of the fancy hotel pool she unexpectedly had at her disposal! What luxury. Dan was still sleeping, so the three of us had a good meal of Chinese food at the hotel restaurant.

Then we went and sat in the bar and watched the sun go down...

Beautiful, isn't it? Don't forget you can click on any of these pictures for a larger view.
